NYC’s Vogue Evolution
February 10, 2010
I was in Dallas, Texas, recently for the National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change and had a chance to shoot the very talented NYC dance team, Vogue Evolution.
Vogue Evolution “comprises some of New York’s most respected and creative figures in the house/ballroom scene.” It has since “moved beyond just a dance company to become an envoy that stands committed to effectively changing the lives of the LGBT community through the art of dance. Vogue Evolution works to empower black and Latino gay youth around self-value, while educating the community on HIV/AIDS awareness, and encouraging the importance of getting tested now.”
You might have seen them perform on America’s Best Dance Crew as the show’s first-ever queer dance troupe. In short, Vogue Evolution is awesome.
National Equality March
October 12, 2009
OK, OK. This post really has nothing to do with photos of NYC, but it does have to do with my life, and the lives of millions of others. It’s about envisioning — and fighting for — a world in which there is full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This past Sunday, tens of thousands of people converged on Washington, D.C., for the National Equality March to do just that. I was one of them, joined by thousands of fellow New Yorkers. Here are just a few of the photos I shot at this incredible and important event:
